Exuvia — the empty shell a creature leaves behind after metamorphosis — gives Exuva its name: a limited-edition eyewear collection marking the second time Sokół's digital creatures took physical form. The butterfly motif runs through Paloceras itself, whose name traces back to Rhopalocera, the scientific suborder of butterflies. Known internationally for her dreamlike 3D animations and digital campaigns for brands including Nike and Louis Vuitton, Sokół brought the same instinctive sensitivity to her first tangible object. "Accessories, like jewellery or eyewear, have a special place in my heart," she says. "The moodboard was a mix of couture references and pictures of insects."
The frame combines a butterfly-inspired silhouette with jewellery-like details, printed in translucent medical-grade resin with a continuous nylon visor lens, in Burgundy Fade or Verdant Green. Interchangeable charms — flower, heart, or star — hang from the temple tips on a 925 silver chain. Every piece was produced entirely in-house at the Paloceras MicroFactory in Helsinki, where 3D printing meets traditional craftsmanship.
To mark its release, Sokół designed a glasshouse installation at PURO Warsaw Old Town, expanding Exuva's themes into space: a cocoon where things were grown, shaped, and slightly altered. Lexavala's lamps punctuated the space with soft neon warmth, among them the Alys lamps — born, as the Exuva frames themselves, from 3D-printed resin, two objects sharing one material and one idea in different forms. A stainless steel totem (also engraved with a butterfly designed by Sokół) anchored the space. Immense floral sculptures by NODE Workshop unfurled through it — a garden suspended between the known and the unrecognisable, where the Exuva butterfly specimen might have inhabited. Flowers and plants were carefully chosen to echo the colours of the eyewear collection. Created specifically for PURO's patio, every element of the scenography was shaped in dialogue with the site's architecture.
